First post and goodies

I haven’t actually made this blog public (don’t even mention change the default layout), but consider this the first post ;)
Geek that I am, I recently bought East West’s Complete Composers Collection, and after testing it briefly I’m quite thrilled about it (although my cpu doesn’t quite share the joy – it’s a massive strain). Nothing really new for now, but I managed to rerecord two old folkish songs with the new libraries, and at long last I was able to make them sound the way I always intended them to. So enjoy the samples below from Last.fm , or just skim past them ;)

  1. David: enjoyed your music, especially ‘A longer way home’. I had just watched Future Crew’s demo from the early nineties, and was wondering what genre other than trance, might go with the next generation of demos. While looking over some code you shared which showcased the Fresnel shader support, I thought ‘Why not listen to David’s music while I try to understand this stuff?’, which was how I came to hear your tracks. As a creative aside, the pieces I heard appeared to have a gregorian-folkish-earthswept feel to them, which may work well with low sun/polar landscape, early twilight ray-tracing…perhaps silly ideas as such coding is way beyond me anyway. Tried to buy the mp3 version, however, links on last.fm don’t work. I looked for a ‘buy’ link here on Derschmale, but could not find one either…perhaps others might wish to buy, too?

Your music forum may not be the place to say this (if so please cut and paste to wherever you’d like in your site), however as I am here now: thank you for your contributions which have helped me better learn Away3D and which also got me started on at least being acquainted with the possibilities of pixel blender and alchemy and the general concept of distributing tasks between the GPU and CPU.
